Tarot meme [May. 16th, 2007|06:49 pm]
Apparently, I have many names.

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

It's Sunday! [Apr. 22nd, 2007|12:00 pm]
Beautiful and warm weather finds me surprisingly without a hangover!

Perhaps there is a fun way to fix that?

Anything fun going on today, people?

[Current Mood | confused]

I was woken at 7am by a call on my landline that I drowsily ignored. I have just now checked 1471 to find that the call was from me.

Not from my mobile, but my landline. The very same phone that was ringing.

I don't have any other phones in my flat.

what the...?

Skirt alert [Feb. 8th, 2007|12:35 pm]
Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced retail outlet for latex skirts? I expect Paradiso to be super expensive, don't recall anywhere in Camden, which just leaves Zeitgeist in Holloway.

Suggestions anyone? I don't have time for buying off the internets at the moment!

If this really is a global pandemic scenario, isn't just a bit too Michael Bay? A least the trailer might be good though...

Burglary! [Nov. 30th, 2006|10:27 am]
[Current Mood | enraged]

At approximately 4:30am this morning I was woken by a loud roaring sound, and between blinks, the sight of a monstrous black shape hanging into the room via my window. I managed to rise up flailing to see my laptop, the beast upon which I now write these words, falling to the floor (to land softly in a huge pile of clothes I had earlier failed to clear up).

On my final blink I managed to see, with the makeshift bedsheet/curtain/intruder-deterrent mechanism torn down from the window, a gaunt figure in black, head wrapped up, running for his life down the street out of view.

I then gathered the pieces of what had happened. An intruder had climbed up onto the compost bin outside, opened the unlatched window and climbed almost completely into the room and grabbed my laptop.

The scurrulous knave was lifting said laptop out by its screen (the blighter!) when Lava arose with a vicious howling roar (which woke yours truly), tore the laptop from his hand and managed to push him bodily out the window.

I congratulate Lava on her brave animal ferocity, and will get her a nice meal in thanks.

Sadly the laptop now has twisted, mangled hinges, and the escape key has somehow escaped. It still seems to work but I am thinking of claiming on the "accidental damage" insurance, although I do think reporting the incident would be a good idea, I wonder where I stand on that.

Although I've always known that justice, and the superheroes I read about do not exist, I do know certain small individuals are terrifying when roused.

MSNBC's anti-Bush vitriol [Sep. 29th, 2006|12:21 pm]
I can barely believe this got aired. Though I especially appreciate the use of "Slime" and Bush as "The worst president since Buchanan"
